Everyone goes through challenging situations in life… EVERYONE!
Sure, sometimes we can handle adversity alone, but we might sacrifice time and resources, delaying healing so long that the situation worsens.
We’re human. We get tired. Sometimes the negative stuff continues to accumulate.
I’m sure you’ve managed many difficulties that have come your way, but there’s nothing wrong with seeking extra support when you need it.
Therapy is for people who…
… have enough resourcefulness to know when they need to look at things from a new angle. You’re probably here because you have the good instinct to take advantage of a view you’ve never considered.
You should be proud of that! It’s an adaptive coping skill.
You are being mature by accepting responsibility for where you are right now and committing to a positive change.
In therapy, you’ll learn new skills to apply to future situations. You’ll get the tools you need to change negative patterns, recognize new limits, and value yourself and your relationships differently.
Therapy benefits your internal state, personal relationships, and professional life.
What is therapy like?
Because everyone is different (different histories, difficulties, and goals), therapy is specific to each person.
That said, in the early sessions, we’ll take your personal history. We’ll discuss how certain issues became problematic and how they impact you today.
As we move forward, you’ll decide what we focus on – whether that’s something new in your life you want to address or other ideas that help you make progress toward your goals.
For some, therapy is brief and focuses on specific situational needs. Others may choose to work on something that has affected them over a longer period that might need more time to address. Either way, it is often best to begin with regular, weekly sessions until you feel a connection and improvement. After that, sessions are scheduled less frequently. The pace is really up to you and your needs.
You’ll get better results if you’re active in the process, which means doing therapeutic work outside sessions. That work might come in the form of reading, regular exercise, good sleep, or education on why we take things for granted. Other healthy habits might be suggested based on individual interests, but they all support the brain and optimize functioning.
Getting our lives back on track may seem simple, but we’ll have to gently “stretch” you out into new ways of being.
Here’s how therapy helps you grow and change…
It helps you understand and appreciate yourself more than ever before.
You’ll see how your life has evolved into what it is now without judging or criticizing yourself.
You’ll get a fresh perspective on difficult problems.
You will learn about other options to cope with stress and anxiety.
You will find ways to manage grief (in all its forms) and the resulting anger, pressure, and depression that tag along with it.
You will improve your ability to communicate clearly and effectively, which includes listening skills that get others to open up to you in a new way.
Leave the old ways behind. The confidence that comes out of these new skills will launch you into a future of amazing potential!
“Something HAS to change!!”
That’s why you’re here, right… because you’ve reached that point? You’re in good company. We ALL get to that point.
Humans are creatures of habit. Sometimes, we find ourselves doing the same thing repeatedly, expecting (honestly, just wanting) a different result. Our brains look to solve things based on the templates we’ve used before.
It’s time to meet your new reality! It’s time to feel strength in you that’s been clouded and out of reach. It’s time to live out the values that haven’t been in focus.
With therapy, you give your pain a voice, and your pain will be heard, leaving you feeling lighter and stronger.
Welcome to how it’s supposed to be!
