We can meet online and do therapy wherever you are in Texas!
Meeting online makes so much sense!
There’s no need for transportation…
… or to battle traffic…
… or spend a lot of money on gas…
… or fight for a parking space…
… or sit in an impersonal waiting room with a bunch of strangers.
Plus, you’re not limited to finding a therapist close to you. As long as you’re in Texas, we can work together online!
And when we work together online, it’s not like working with other specialists when you have a 1 o’clock appointment and they finally show up at 1:45 PM. Now, if we make an appointment at 1 o’clock, that’s when we’ll start!
Now… get comfortable in your favorite chair with coffee, tea, or your beverage choice, and you’re ready to go!
I was skeptical, but I did my research and found out…
… that online therapy is just as effective (if not more so in some cases).
The best therapy occurs when you can be completely honest and free to speak from your heart about what’s been going on.
A comfortable environment is the most likely space to do this. My clients feel safer in their own space, a comfortable chair, maybe holding their cat or a dog at their feet who loves them unconditionally – a cup of tea or coffee close by if that feels good.
You avoid traffic to and from an office or waiting in a sterile waiting room with other strangers. I start the session on time because I value your time.
But there are some requirements.
You’ll need a cellphone, tablet, or computer with access to a good, steady Internet connection.
We can fall back on talking on the phone if there’s a power disruption.
I use Zoom primarily because it allows me to use multiple screens for couples or family sessions when all participants can’t be in the same room. If Zoom fails, I might use Google Meets or another platform.
My platforms were specifically designed for health care professionals with the highest confidentiality and HIPAA-compliance levels.
And here’s how you can make the most of the experience…
Find a quiet, private place that allows you to speak freely without distractions or interruptions.
I take our work very seriously, and for therapy to be most effective, clients need to be able to say whatever’s on their minds without fearing they may be overheard.
This is your time. I value it, and you’re worth the undivided attention. Phones and other expectations can be put aside to focus on you.
It’s okay if that place is your car, but ONLY IF PARKED WITH THE ENGINE OFF. It’s distracting and dangerous any other way.
Having a notebook ready to jot down any notes from your session is a good idea. This helps to review content later for reminders and goals. I don’t tape sessions, but I want you to get the most out of our brief time together. Sometimes therapists might assign “homework,” and the notes support effective change between our meetings.
Sessions can leave you feeling emotionally drained. Even anticipating a therapy session can cause stress and anxiety. That’s why it’s a good idea to block out some extra time before your session to get ready and after to process what you discussed during the session. This extra time will relieve unnecessary stress before returning to your daily life.
Let’s focus on you for a while.
If you need the reminder that you’re worth it, here it is!
