Has Anxiety Made You Live Life “On Overload?”
- Do you feel like you are constantly in a heightened state of alert and wish you could dial down the energy?
- Do relentless worries and rumination keep you awake at night?
- Has nervousness and overthinking prevented you from relaxing and enjoying time with family and friends?
Maybe you wish you could escape from your stressors, often thinking, “Wouldn’t it be nice if I could just dig a hole, sit in it, and escape the world for a while!?”
Perhaps you’ve tried to fix your anxiety on your own, but you find yourself doing the same things repeatedly and expect a different result. Are you ready to consider how therapy can help you understand and manage your anxiety better?
Anxiety Often Interferes With Your Daily Life
Anxiety usually results in procrastination and avoidance that can keep you from accomplishing your goals. It can interfere with your ability to concentrate and function effectively at work or school. You might experience the physical effects of anxiety as well, with headaches, trembling, muscle twitches, and digestive issues.
You might long for the days when you can sleep all night and wake up well-rested—as opposed to waking up at 2:00 AM with a head full of worries. This lack of sleep accumulates, and one day’s sluggishness runs into the next day’s exhaustion.
Then, there’s the panic you might also experience, when your heart races and you feel that tight band around your chest. It might even feel like a heart attack, which is incredibly scary.
Even though this cycle might seem never-ending, therapy can help you find the root causes of your anxiety symptoms and learn the techniques and skills to calm your mind, even in your most frightening moments.

Anxiety Can Be Helpful, Until It Gets Out Of Control
Anxiety is something we all experience to a degree, as it is actually a useful biological response for our wellness and safety. It keeps us from danger when we’re threatened and gives us the impulse to move quickly if needed. However, if our brains somehow think we’re always in danger, it can wreak havoc on our physical and mental wellness and turn into a full-blown anxiety disorder—but fortunately, therapy can help.
Our communities aren’t necessarily designed with our mental health in mind either. If we share our struggles with others, they may tell us, “just move on,” “don’t let it bother you,” or “focus on the bright side.” This might leave us feeling as if “everyone else copes easily, why can’t I?” When we feel judged by others close to us, we can be driven further into feelings of aloneness or isolation.
Taking The Time To Reflect On Our Behaviors Can Open Up The Possibility Of Change
If we take the time to explore how we function and react in a supportive environment like counseling, we can begin to see how our thoughts and beliefs may work against us and evolve into an anxiety disorder. This enables us to learn to modify our reactions and start to heal.
You and those around you deserve the best version of you, and you can choose a different way of showing up in your world. Flight attendants tell us to put on our oxygen masks before helping others with theirs. This is for a very good reason that has nothing to do with selfishness.
If you don’t know how to put yourself first for your health and wellness, you can start learning now. Therapy at my practice can give you permission to advocate for yourself and manage your anxiety so you can get back to living your life and reaching for your dreams.
Therapy With Marian Redsun Can Provide The Relief You Deserve
You are likely here because something proactive has shifted within you, and you are ready to make a positive change. I am so happy to welcome you to my therapy practice, where I can help you during this important time in your life. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
As a therapist, I offer a safe, non-judgmental space for you to feel supported and at ease so you can start to unpack and understand your anxiety. My goal is to help you find new ways of dealing with this past pain and tap into your resourcefulness to look at things from a new angle. All you need to live your best life possible is a willingness to accept where you are right now, a desire to let go of the past, and a commitment to learning new skills to create positive changes for the future.
What To Expect During Sessions
When we begin, I’ll start with taking a comprehensive history of your background, while ensuring that guilt and judgment are moved out of the equation and replaced with understanding and acceptance. I utilize several evidence-based and trusted therapeutic modalities in anxiety therapy.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) involves working toward identifying repeated patterns in your experiences with anxiety. I’ll teach you how the brain interprets the meaning of your experiences in a constructive way, which can alleviate self-blame or judgment you have about yourself, offering new ways to make sense of old pain.
I also incorporate ideas related to Systems Theory and Relational Theory, which focus on the “whole” person rather than the individual parts, viewing people as interconnected elements within a dynamic system, such as a family or community. This treatment approach emphasizes that your anxiety disorder cannot be fully understood in isolation but is shaped by your relationships and interactions within the broader system.
Additionally, trauma is often felt in the physical body, which can lead to anxiety, and doesn’t just go away on its own without utilizing desensitization modalities like EMDR. So when needed, I also incorporate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing in anxiety therapy.

I am skeptical about the effectiveness of online therapy.
The therapeutic process provides a non-judgmental space where you can feel validated and receive insight that you may not have considered before. The techniques I use are grounded in research, with long-lasting change as the skills are transferable throughout your lifespan. Telehealth, specifically, allows you to attend anxiety therapy from your own comfortable space with convenience and privacy, and has been proven by research to have the same effective results as in-person counseling.
I am afraid to truly open up in counseling and worried about what others will think of me.
I believe in maintaining unconditional positive regard for everyone I work with. Ethically, it is my responsibility to remain unbiased and focus on relational patterns, rather than making personal judgments. As a therapist, I am an impartial facilitator, focusing on how to best support you and your specific needs, relationships, goals, and experiences with anxiety.
While it can be hard to open up, the benefits of digging down to the root causes of your struggles are often life-changing. Additionally, therapy is an entirely confidential process, and I will not share the details of our sessions with anyone (with the exception that you indicate you are a harm to yourself or others physically).
I had a bad experience with a therapist in the past, and I’m afraid of being judged or misunderstood.
While putting your trust in a new counselor to manage your anxiety may be daunting due to a past negative experience, I have a very relatable, down-to-earth style and strongly believe in building relationships with unconditional acceptance. I not only have extensive experience, but I have also continually kept my enthusiasm for my skills fresh through new, ‘cutting-edge’ training to keep myself professionally sharp. I’m less focused on simply providing a diagnosis and overwhelming you with psycho-babble and more interested in improving your quality of life.
