Offering affordable online LSCW and RPT supervision in Texas…

139244339Selecting a clinical supervisor is one of your most important professional decisions.

Take the time to get to know your supervisor and ensure they are a comfortable fit for you. One size does not fit all!!

This is where you will digest everything you’ve learned in theory and skill and translate it to your professional practice. I have found that a diverse background can be helpful across many clinical settings.

My professional experience comes from the family court system, foreign and domestic adoption, individual and family therapy, and many years as a social worker in the public school system.

I’m keenly aware of the importance of attachment throughout the lifespan and bring a trauma-informed background to my work. I’m fortunate to have extensive experience in various practice fields.

Supervision takes place on Mondays, but we vary the times around your schedule. I deliberately keep groups small, so I can offer individual attention and discuss relevant issues for supervisees. If questions arise in between supervision sessions, I’m very reachable.

Typically, my supervisees bring topics to supervision from the specific cases they are working on, focusing on any challenges or successes they may have had with their clients. We share an agenda for each session so that each supervisee can list a client to discuss. This gives us a roadmap, and the discussion is very informal but lively and encouraging.

We discuss confidentiality issues, encouraging rapport, transference, resistance and compliance with agency and state regulations, etc. We stay focused on the work because it is ‘your time’ but a light and enjoyable atmosphere. Some of the content can be very distressing because we are dealing with real people and real pain, but supervision is support in my thinking.

I want you to find this field as rewarding as I do.

LMSW Supervision

Requirements

As a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) under supervision toward being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), you must meet with your supervisor 24 hours per month.

You’ll need 100 total hours of supervision, which must be completed in no fewer than 24 and no more than 48 months. You’ll be working between 15 and 30+ hours per week.

Three thousand (3,000) total work hours are required before you can apply to sit for the licensing exam.

If you assess, diagnose, and treat mental health or substance issues using DSM-V criteria for at least four (4) hours per week, you are eligible for LCSW supervision.

Making a formal diagnosis yourself in a professional setting is not required. In most settings, the physician, psychiatrist, or independently licensed mental health professional diagnoses clients or patients. If you’re using a diagnostic skill set or screening tools when working with clients or patients, you are fulfilling this requirement. As long as you use clinical skills with clients or patients, you likely meet LCSW supervision criteria.
